Eufaula, Alabama is a Class 7 municipality which operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The governing body is composed of five council members elected by district, and a mayor who is elected at-large.
Mayor Jay Jaxon, Jr. is currently in his fifth term as mayor of the City of Eufaula. He is the chief executive officer of the municipality and has general supervision and control over all others officers and affairs of the City of Eufaula. Under his leadership as mayor, Eufaula became Audubon International's First Sustainable City, and was also named one of the Top 100 Retirement Communities in the United States as well as one of 20 Southern Dream Towns by Garden and Gun magazine. Eufaula has also been recognized as being among the top 100 small cities in America and is nationally recognized for its Eufaula 2020 strategic planning process.
